Terms and Conditions governing the Imaginate 2009 competition
All entrants to the Imaginate 2009 competition agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions. Infringement by a school or individual of any of the Terms and Conditions below may lead to disqualification from Imaginate 2009 and/or the debarring of individuals or schools from future participation in the Imaginate competition.
- Imaginate 2009 is organised by the Department of Electronic Engineering, NUI Maynooth (the Organiser), whose decision on all matters relating to the competition will be binding.
- The closing date for receipt of postal entries is
Friday 6thWednesday 11th February 2009. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances. - Winners in the Imaginate 2009 competition are not eligible to enter the Imaginate competition in subsequent years.
- Students in full-time second level education, aged between 12 -18 years on 31st August 2008 and resident in any part of Ireland (Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland) are eligible to enter.
- Students educated at home i.e. not attending a school or college, are eligible to enter, provided that they are registered with the National Education Welfare Board and supply a copy of the registration certificate with their entry.
- There are two categories of competition, Junior and Senior. The junior category is exclusively for students attending 1st, 2nd or 3rd year in secondary school on 6th February 2009. The senior category is exclusively for students attending 4th, 5th or 6th year in secondary school on 6th February 2009.
- It is expected that all or the majority of the work for the poster will be conducted either in the school, home or the outside environment. Students may seek advice or information about their design from sources beyond their school, such as on the 'web' or from government organisations, or from universities, institutes of technology or other experts. However, it is recommended that the majority of students' work should be conducted under the supervision of their teachers, parents, guardians or other responsible adults.
- Students are advised that they may wish to protect their Intellectual Property rights contained in elements of their design, including novel products or processes or component of these. Students are advised that making public disclosure of such Intellectual Property or invention, including submitting their entry to this competition, or putting an invention publicly into use may prejudice their ability to obtain patent protection for this invention. - All students must have consent of teachers, parents, guardians or other responsible adults before entering Imaginate 2009.
- Entries are valid only where the student has registered online at www.imaginate.ie.
- The entry design must be submitted on a poster between A4 and A0 in size. The design can be hand drawn using any art materials or can be computer generated and rendered. Only physical posters (paper, cardboard or alternative) are accepted as entries; electronic files are not admissible.
- All Poster Entries will only be accepted if accompanied by the Imaginator number given after online registration.
- The poster must be received no later than 5pm on

Co. Kildare. - Only one entry may be submitted per individual.
- Poster content and material may be used by NUI Maynooth and the competition sponsors for exhibition and/or publication.
- Student entries containing offensive, lewd or inappropriate material will be disqualified from the competition and the students concerned will be prohibited from entering future Imaginate competitions.
- The Organiser reserves the right to withhold awards in the event that posters do not reach a satisfactory standard.
- The Organiser's decision in all matters relating to short-listing, public vote and the award of prizes will be binding.
- Winning posters will be determined by the public vote combined with the rating of the judges. Judges decision will be final.
